Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Küchen

Since Nov. 1, 2021, Christian Küchen is Director General of the en2x – Association for Fuels and Energy in Berlin.
Mr. Küchen studied process engineering at the Technical University of Clausthal and received his doctorate degree in chemical reaction engineering. From 1992 to 1995, Mr. Küchen was responsible for the application technology of fuels engineering and fuel test benches of the German Shell AG in Hamburg (Laboratory for Products, Applications and Development).
In 1995, he started as Technical Director at the Institute for Heat and Oil Technology (IWO) in Hamburg and became sole Managing Director in July 2003 and, in December 2013, speaker of the management board.
From April, 2015, until October, 2021, Mr. Küchen was General Manager of the German Mineral Oil Industry Association (MWV), together with IWO predecessor of en2x.
Additionally, he is honorary professor at the RWTH Aachen University since June 2004.

Elmar Kühn

Elmar Kühn has been Managing Director of UNITI Bundesverband EnergieMittelstand e.V., the largest and oldest medium-sized energy association in Germany, since 2006. He has worked for the association since 2004. Prior to this, he completed his 1st and 2nd state examinations in law at the Hamm Higher Regional Court and worked full-time for the CDU in North Rhine-Westphalia. Kühn studied law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster. He is a proven expert in the petroleum industry and the petrol station market.

Nicolas Kurtsoglou

Nicolas Kurtsoglou is a chemical engineer, graduated from Chimie ParisTech and IFP School.

Works as Fuel Manager at Bioethanol France, in charge of advocacy for bioethanol, working together with OEMs for Flexfuel cars and Fuel suppliers to increase the sales of E85 fuel. Also working on standardization of E20 and fully renewable E85.

Dr. Lars Menger

Dr. Lars Menger holds a PHD in chemistry and a Master of Business Administration. Already during his doctoral studies at the University of Cologne, he specialized in the topic of fuels, particularly the emission impacts of renewable fuels. He has now been working in the automotive industry for over ten years, where he has further expanded his knowledge through various projects and studies on the topic of renewable fuels. Today, he is responsible for the topics of operating fluids, renewable fuels, fuel quality, legislation, as well as the validation and safeguarding of powertrains for global use at the BMW Group.

Carlo Alberto Miani

Carlo Alberto Miani is Technical Policy & Sustainability Senior Manager at ePURE, the association of European producers of renewable ethanol. Based in Brussels, Carlo is responsible for files related to technical policy, sustainability and statistics, as well as standardisation, introduction and mainstreaming of fuels and biofuel blends containing ethanol. Before joining ePURE in September 2023, he worked as Fuels & Transportation Analyst for Stratas Advisors, where he covered Europe and the CIS region. Carlo’s previous professional experiences include, among others, years of consultancy work on EU-funded transport infrastructure, energy, business climate, private sector support and development cooperation projects.

Ebtihal Mohamed

Ebtihal Mohamed is an agronomy researcher who works for the Agricultural Research Corporation, Ministry of Agriculture, Sudan.

She is pursuing a PhD in plant science (developing Brassica carinata as a biodiesel crop) at the Australian National University, Australia.

She has an M.Sc. and B.Sc (Honors) in Agriculture in (Horticulture) with (First Class), from the University of Khartoum, Sudan.

Dr. Sabine Möllenkamp

Sabine Möllenkamp has been working as a consultant at the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs since 2008. Since then, her responsibilities have included the development of the National Action Plan for Climate-Friendly Shipping, adaptation to climate change, research in the field of climate change in maritime shipping and leading the German delegation to the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Environment Committee (MEPC).

Previously, Sabine Möllenkamp worked in research, including as a post-doc at the Institute for Environmental Systems Research at the University of Osnabrück in the international research project “NeWater” on adaptive water management and participatory governance.

Benjamin Ost

Benjamin Ost has been Manager for Energy Policy and Communication at Mittelständische Energiewirtschaft Deutschland (MEW e.V.) since 2022. He studied political science and economics in Berlin, Potsdam and Greifswald. Before joining MEW, Ost worked for the Federal Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (BVMW) in the Federal Economic Senate.

At MEW, he is responsible for hydrogen, heavy goods traffic and security of supply. Ost also represents the interests of medium-sized member companies, organizes the association's internal work and is responsible for external communication, for example by hosting the podcast Talking Energy.

Thorsten Rohling

Thorsten Rohling, is CPO and co-founder of agriportance GmbH. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Biosciences and a Master of Science in Bioinformatics. He also completed a research project at the University of Hyderabad in the field of biotechnology and obtained a university certificate in Entrepreneurial Management.

He started his professional career as a software developer, followed by a position as a data scientist and then as an IT consultant. Thorsten Rohling has extensive knowledge in Python programming, bioinformatics, PostgreSQL, data science, Java, JavaScript, LaTeX, computer science, software development, IT consulting, React and VBA programming.

Since agriportance was founded, Thorsten Rohling has been responsible for product development as Managing Director. He digitizes the processes of greenhouse gas and mass balancing and, with the agriportance. software he developed, offers a tool that simplifies the process immensely.
